Mosquito Trap

A mosquito trap is often used by having a fan and a net. The fan will make vibrations and help to make the mosquito curious. In addition, most traps have a way to attract the mosquito. Mosquitos are attracted to human breath and a product called octenol that is a component of human respiration and perspiration. Octenol is what gives the skin a metallic mushroom like smell. The octenol is very safe. In fact, it is a legal food additive. The traps come with octenol strips to attract the mostquito.

Mosquitos are also attracted to carbon dioxide. Some traps convert propane to carbon dioxide. That way these traps can operate on propane bottles.

Some traps use octenol and carbon dioxide to attract the mosquitos and then a fan pulls them in and puts them in a bag. Some other traps, do not use attractants, but are merely a fan and a net to catch the mosquitos. Of course, it is more effective to use the attractants.
