There are many other natural mosquito products that can keep away mosquitos. Citronella candles give off a scent that mosquitos like. Some people light large citronella candles to help keep the mosquitos away. The idea is that the mosquitos are attracted to the citronella candle and not you.
There are also natural oils like peppermint and eucalyptus that mosquitos are repelled by. The way to keep mosquitos away from you is to use these oils. The only down side is that these types of natural oils need to be reapplied often and put on in thick quantities. You can imagine, why this isn't the norm for mosquito repellent.
You can get large mosquito stakes that you hammer into the ground. They will give off a scent to keep the mosquitos away. This is often a good idea to use when camping. You can create a perimeter that is mosquito free.
Avon has a bath oil that has the chemical IR3535 (made by Merck). Avon claims that the lotion can keep off mosquitos for up to eight hours. IR3535 has been used for over 20 years in Europe.
